Desi chickpeas are small brown chickpeas also known as kala chana. Uses are mainly in Indian cuisine like popular Indian chaat, chana bateta, channa masala and chana curry. Desi chickpeas is also ground into chickpea flour also known as Besan flour or yellow gram flour. Desi chickpea, when peeled and split are called channa dal. Roasted desi chickpeas are a great snack.
